Meet Hanna, Founder of The Mother's Apothecary ❤︎

The Mother's Apothecary is a sanctuary for overstimulated, stressed out, burnt-out moms who need more than just another “self-care” reminder.

Honestly, as a busy mom, who has struggled with mental health—the words "self-care" make me cringe.

 

 

Hi, I’m Hanna. 

I'm a multi passionate, present mama—fully enjoying motherhood with my two littles, while also pursuing my dreams as an herbalist helping other mothers navigate similar feelings of overstimulation, and burnout that I dealt with in the first few years of motherhood.

But to be honest: it wasn’t always this way.

There was a period of time (2.5 years actually) when I felt like I was completely drowning. I was constantly overstimulated, overwhelmed, struggling to keep up with even the basic, and questioning if I was even cut out for motherhood, or if I was deserving of it. 

I felt as if I was either lied to about how I would feel as a new mom, or that there had to be something severely wring with me.

Why wasn't I happy? Why was I so, so tired? Why don't I have any help? Is it normal to feel this lonely?

The mom guilt weighed heavy on me night after night, I'd lay in bed replaying all the moments I should have been more patient, more present, more in control. I could have done more, taught them more... I wish I had the energy to cook better meals, to stay above the chores, to not want to hide next to the dryer and scream because I felt so alone and overwhelmed.

I found myself counting down to the next break—nap time, bedtime, or that short moment when my SO got home—just to breathe, just to have a moment alone. But the relief was temporary, and I knew something had to change.

I didn't want to just coast through their childhood. After all, it is my motherhood experience too.

That’s when I found herbs, or at least dove into herbs for stress, overstimulation, and mental health. I had already been studying herbalism for years, and successfully using them for many ailments in our home and on myself personally. 

So, why not try them for my current experience and struggles?

Herbs gave me the leg up I needed to get back up.

Of course, herbs didn’t magically erase the hard moments I was experiencing, but they gave my body and nervous system the support they desperately needed, and they took the edge off.

Herbs helped me manage my chronic stress, overstimulation, regulate my emotions, and helped me finally feel capable again. Capable of showing up as the mother I had dreamed of being before the babies and reality set in. 

And, because many herbs are helpful for so many layers of health, while ditching the overstimulated moms club (haha), I was also able to support my gut health, my hair began to grow again, my skin cleared up, and I had the energy to begin working out again, to simply take care of ME again.

The herbal leg up, gave me such a boost in motherhood—laundry was done, meals were planned a month ahead of time, the house was clean, I actually felt like a good mother. I felt like a good woman. Something I wanted, something I dreamt of for so long. There wasn't anything wrong with me after all, I just needed support.

With all of this success, became even more obsessed with herbal medicine, soaking up everything I could about herbal nervous system support, mood regulation, supporting my cycle with herbs, and balancing hormones naturally.

 

I planted the seed, but community watered it.

In 2024 I began sharing my experience on Instagram, hoping to help other mothers who had the same experiences I had. I grew quick, and that surprised me. I had no idea so many other moms struggled this way. I met so many new friends, helped 100's of women just from content alone—but would get daily messages to start offering the herbal blends I personally used to feel more calm and regulated as a mom.

So...

After years of study and practice, The Mother’s Apothecary was born—a place where other struggling moms can find real, holistic, tangible support for stress, overstimulation, mom burnout, and even the dreaded mom rage (yes, it's very real).
